The Chairman of the Irish Masters of Foxhounds Association (IMFHA), Mrs Kate Horgan, is calling upon every hunt club to support the Countryside Alliance's London march on 22nd September. "While we of course have our own distinct identity and a tradition for hunting that goes back to the times of Cu Chulainn, it is vitally important that the British Government and Parliament realise the international consequences of their action should they ban hunting with dogs, said Mrs Horgan following the Dublin Horse Show. "The Liberty and Livelihood march organised by the Countryside Alliance is attracting strong support from across Europe, the United States and Australia and it is imperative that we here in Ireland are not complacent about it. We must get out there and march and I will be bitterly disappointed if I do not see every foxhound pack in Ireland, north and south, represented at this march. We must cry halt to the never ending animal right agenda. Foxhunting is only the thin edge of the wedge and if it goes then undoubtedly fishing, shooting and many other country pursuits will come under threat. The Countryside Alliance is writing to every farming body, every equestrian body and every organisation representing the interests of hunting, shooting and fishing in Ireland seeking their support and I believe that we should not be found wanting."
